Welcome to our family run, traditional butchers. My names Terry and I started Butchers Hook in 2014.
I’ve been working in the butchery industry since the age of 14. I started as a Saturday boy in a small shop before moving on to a larger company aged 15–18. I soon completed my training and spent several years working in high-end central London shops.
From 2000 onwards I worked in Medway as an area manager for a large company, my role was to work alongside managers in struggling shops – regenerating the business and troubleshooting problems.
It has always been my dream to go it alone and setup up my own business. In March 2014, the opportunity presented itself and with a little help from family I was able to purchase my first shop in Heathfield with my wife Jackie. The shop needed a complete overhaul and refit. We spent the next 2 years working 14 hours a day 6 days week building our business from the ground up.
Our trade soon became so busy we were able to invest in more staff going from just ourselves to now employing 6 fulltime and 5 part-time workers. We have since invested an a second shop an ecommerce store and local delivery.
Our goal is to push locally sourced meats at catering prices to local people.
